PC 2010 INC: Working Document Discussed on Day 3

Kolkata, Feb. 6. PC 2010(INC)being celebrated at Nitika Don Bosco, with a participation of sixty two confreres, resumed the sessions on day 3 taking up topics as Vocation Promotion, Salesian Brother, Personal Media among others.  The visit of Rt. Rev. Julius Marandi, the Bishop of Dumka augmented the joy of the participants.

The proceedings of day three (5.2.2010) of PC 2010 at Nitika Don Bosco, Kolkata commenced with an opening prayer service animated by the Moderator reflecting on the theme of Love based on St. Paul`s hymn of love. The Moderator asked the secretaries to present the report. After some clarifications minutes were passed.

Introduction to Commission Discussion

The moderator explained the points to be discussed in the commissions, cautioning the commissions not to take up too many lines of action. Fr. Provincial wished everyone a fruitful sharing and meaningful discussions.

Presentation of the Reports

The afternoon session commenced at 2.30 pm with a prayer song. Commissions one and two presented their reports. The evening session began at 6.15 pm with the presentation of the report of Commission 3.  In the course of the evening, reports from all the five commissions were presented interspersed with lively sharing after each report.

Important issues discussed

Numerous aspects of our Salesian life were discussed in the assembly. The need to nurture vocations was discussed at length.  Personal responsibility in the use of personal media especially the mobile phone, was called for.  The impact of the `free and compulsory education bill` was discussed.  After receiving the agenda for the following day, the assembly dispersed for dinner at 8.00 pm.

Visit of Bishop Julius Marandi

His Lordship Rt. Rev. Julius Marandi, the Bishop of Dumka was the guest of honor for the dinner. He cherished his long term association with the Salesians especially in the Parish of Boropahari, in Dumka Diocese. The day concluded with Fr. Provincial giving the good night talk exhorting all the confreres to be available for the varied forms of apostolate in the province especially those qualified in certain disciplines.
